Sometimes autistic people can’t control their feelings, it’s not being dramatic, it’s how our brains work. Sometimes I just need extra space, time, or help to calm down. Being autistic feels special because my dad was diagnosed just before me, so we understand each other. It also helps me understand myself better, like why I think differently or notice things that other people might not see. Sometimes I can get frustrated really easily, and I can cry because it can feel harder for me to solve the problem right away. Getting help in busy places like in crowds or queues makes things much easier for me, and having someone close or to guide me helps me feel safe. After getting my autism diagnosis I get a lot more help, especially in school so things feels less confusing and easier to manage. I am creative, imaginative and think in my own unique way - because autism is a part of what makes me special.
