I have been volunteering since I was 18. My mum is a volunteer for Autism NI, so it started of as me helping her and then I really enjoyed it and it took off! I have autism so supporting a community that I am a part of feels rewarding, and I enjoy speaking with the families. Talking about autism can be difficult in settings were people are less familiar with it so having the ability to speak so openly to someone without judgment is freeing. If you are thinking about volunteering I would encourage you to just do it! Giving your time and energy, however much, is appreciated on such a high level. Autism NI gives waves to our community which is something you could be a part of.Emma, 19
