Hays Travel named Autism NI as the charity partner for its 25 branches in the region, and has raised over £18,000 that will support autistic people and their families.

Hays Travel is the UK’s largest independent travel agent with over 450 shops, all of which are given time and resources to support their local community and particularly young people. Their pledge to Autism NI will help the charity deliver invaluable services to the autism community in Northern Ireland.

With activities from cake sales to abseiling, the travel agents managed to raise a total of £9,594.55. Much of this was then match funded by the Hays Travel Foundation, resulting in a total donation of £18,666.67.

Nicola Allison, Hays Travel Regional Sales Manager, said: “I’m so proud of our amazing teams across Northern Ireland who have rallied together and worked so hard to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity who do vital work to support our autistic community.”

Sorcha Mathews, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Autism NI, said: ‘’Autism NI is delighted to have partnered with the incredible team at Hays Travel across Northern Ireland. This fundraising donation will continue to support the ongoing and evolving needs of 35,000 autistic community in Northern Ireland. In particular, Hays Travel directly funded free autism support courses for parents and provided hundreds of Early Intervention sessions for families. The support has also funded Autism NI Helpline’s service which supports over 8000 people every year."

Hays Travel staff have also completed training with Autism NI so that every branch has a dedicated member of the team to support autistic customers.
