The ’12 Runs of Christmas’ is a virtual running challenge which asks participants to complete twelve runs during the month of December for Autism NI.
Autism NI’s Fundraising and Events Officer, Ruth Brown-Kerr said: “We’re delighted to launch our ‘12 Runs of Christmas’ challenge and invite people across Northern Ireland to get involved. Whether you’re an experienced runner or just starting out, this is a fun way to take on a personal challenge while raising vital funds for autistic people and their families.
December is also a very busy time for our services, as families navigate the challenges around Christmas. Therefore, this challenge is aiming to help us raise £10,000 collectively to support our Helpline service and our parent and carer support courses. Every person who takes part and every pound raised will help us continue providing these vital services.
I would also like to give special thanks to CDE Group for sponsoring our packs for this fundraising challenge.”
Ian Birney from Enniskillen Running Club said; “This is a brilliant flexible challenge that we can’t wait to get involved in this year. We understand the amazing work carried out by Autism NI and we’re delighted to support their services this year.
The great part about the challenge is that it doesn’t matter if you are an experienced runner or not. People can choose their own distance during the 12 days, whether it is 1k, 5k or 10k per day, it’s entirely up to them. Our running club is getting behind this challenge, and we hope other clubs and community groups follow.”
It is free to sign up and take part in the ‘12 Runs of Christmas’ challenge. Supporters are also asked to raise £80 each to fund local autism services. To receive a free fundraising pack, please visit www.autismni.org or email events@autismni.org.
