Our Mourne Madness trek is back this summer! Explore the beautiful Mourne Mountain range in our epic Mourne Madness challenge on Saturday 10th and/or Sunday 11th August 2024. Supporters will have a choice to take on a 1 day challenge or complete 5 peaks over two days. Our 2 day trek includes accommodation at Meelmore Lodge. Our treks are led by our amazing Mountain Leaders who have supported Autism NI for over 15 years.

1 Day Trek (10th August 2024) - The group will be starting early at Meelmore Lodge and climbing Slieve Commedagh (765m) and then the mighty Slieve Donard (850m). The group will then make their way back via the Brandy Pad and end the trek back at Meelmore Lodge. This challenge should take 6-7 hours to complete.

2 Day Trek (10th- 11th August 2024) - This will be completing 5 peaks over 2 days including Slieve Commedagh and Slieve Donard on the first day. The second day starts off at Meelmore Lodge and the group will climb Slieve Bearnagh, Slieve Meelmore and Slieve Meelbeg before making their way back to Meelmore Lodge. The ‘2 Day Trek’ includes overnight accommodation at Meelmore Lodge where the group will be starting and finishing the treks over the 2 days.

Accommodation:

The group will be staying in Meelmore Lodge which is nestled in the heart of the Mourne Mountains. The accommodation provides a 6 – 8 bed dorm and participants will be sharing a room with other participants. There is a full self-use kitchen available and a bistro on site where participants can purchase food. There are also car parking facilities onsite. Meelmore Lodge is located at 52 Trassey Road, Bryansford, BT33 0QB.

These treks are one to tick off the bucket list as well as raising vital funds for local autism services in Northern Ireland.

**Please note, participants must be over 18 years old and have a certain level of fitness to take part in this challenge and complete a medical form to declare their fitness and well-being.
