Autism NI’s core activities include a helpline service, family support, support group network, early intervention, training, fundraising and campaigning for better services for the autism community.

Q. How many people are diagnosed with autism in Northern Ireland?

A. In Northern Ireland, 1 in 21 school age children have a diagnosis of autism (2022, Prevalence of Autism in School aged children, DHSSPS). Accurate prevalence figures for adults can be a difficulty as there are many adults who do not have a formal diagnosis of Autism and therefore statistics can be misleading.
