ISLA’S STORY

Isla is autistic, and attends the North Belfast Support Group along with her Mum Alana, and their family.

“I always have trouble with numeracy in school and I didn’t have an assistant to help and support me, but now that I do I feel much better. I think it is important for everyone to understand someone with autism may need an extra bit of help. Everyone is a bit different, and that is a good thing.

It would be great if everyone was more inclusive and get to know me for who I am, and not judge me. It would feel really good if more people took the time to learn about autism. I call it my superpower!”

Isla and her family have been members with Autism NI for over 5 years and regularly attend the North Belfast Support Group.
