Autism NI has developed new family support workshops and discussion groups for parents and carers. We also have a number of ongoing specialist training projects that we developed in partnership with a range of organisations. Please click here to see our other ASD specialist training.

Starting Point

Autism NI family support workshops.JPGThe Starting Point workshop will be based around practical strategies to start working with your young child with ASD.

The workshop will focus on understanding your child with an ASD, teaching play skills, communication and social interaction skills, teaching social routines as early as possible and dealing with difficult situations you may encounter.

This is a 3 day workshop during a 3 week period (1 day a week). For more information about this workshop, please ring Family Support on 02890401729 (Option 1).

Parent Time

An informal discussion groups for parents and carers.

Autism NI Parent Time.JPGAutism NI is commencing a series of informal discussion group for parents/carers of newly or recently diagnosed children/adolescents with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The discussions will be Parent lead; however the structure will be around discussions on your Autism journey to diagnosis, support for you, new ways of coping and the community and you.

Social Skills

Autism NI is commencing a series of Social Skills courses aimed at Parents, Carers and Classroom Assistants. The objective of the course is to understand social difficulties experienced by a young person with ASD whilst teaching social interactions and social understanding.
